In Colombia, Villa de Leyva, San Gil

As I have written quite a few posts in German in recent history, I thought it would be good to address our english speaking audience for a change :-) Hello again ;-)

20171009_100224.jpgWe have travelled from Bogotá to Villa de Leya and have spent 5 days here, simply because we liked the place so much. It's a small colonial town, cobblestone streets, cute little cafés, beautiful surrounding nature. The accomodation we booked turned out to be an apartment as no other people had checked into any of the other 2 rooms. So we had the place all to ourselves. Good for writing content and developing the website further (in Karl's case).

The most impressive part here was probably our visit to the fossil museum. Although the museum itself is tiny and can be visited within 10 minutes, the biggest fossil (as featured in our video blog) was especially awesome to see. 20171009_102337.jpg

The hike up to Mirador El Santo Sagrado Corazon was also fun with a very rewarding view over the town at the top. Finally, we visited 'Pozos Azules' today, 6 blue lakes surrounded by beautiful nature. The lakes themselves were not very impressive, but it made for a great hike out in nature.

Tomorrow we are taking an early bus to our next destination - San Gil, the adventure center of Colombia, where people go for white water rafting, rappelling, paragliding etc. - we are super excited! We'll stay there for 3 days before taking the bus to Barichara, another small colonial town not too far from San Gil. On Oct 19th we have a flight booked to Cartagena to spend some time on the caribbean coast. (The 14-16 hour bus ride from San Gil didn't sound very appealing, hence we opted for the flight option from Bucaramanga).

I'm sure we will upload some fun footage from whatever adventure we will partake in in San Gil, so keep your eyes on our video blog :-)

We hope you are all as well as we are and have fun following our travels.
