First Stop: Bogotá – Colombia

In Colombia, Bogotá

We made it to our first stop, Bogotá. The flight was long but ok for the cost. We flew with Air Europa and assumed we’d experience budget airline type service but were surprised to find out that the staff was super friendly and meals and drinks were included.

After arriving at the airport in Bogotá, a friendly guy from Munich approached us to ask whether we’d like to share a taxi. Turned out that he is a mutual friend of my oldest friend Ann-Kathrin. Such a small world! 😊

We arrived at our hostel which we had pre-booked and basically went to sleep right away with a beer in our hand.

We woke up to a warm day in Bogotá and went to explore La Candelaria, the tourist center of Bogotá with beautiful old buildings and many little cafés and eateries. We enjoyed the day browsing through town, tasting and buying coffee, having traditional food.

Tamale: corn, rice, chicken steamed in a banana leaf. Chocolate completa: Hot chocolate served with bread and cheese.

Today the weather is cold and grey, so we decided to stay in and work on travel planning and our blog. We will likely leave Bogotá tomorrow to head to Villa de Leyva, a colonial town approximately 3 hours north.
